This year several of our meeting prices are according to “shop” membership. That means if you are a member of PPFA, then you may bring as many people from your shop to a meeting at no additional cost per person. For example, the meeting in August is $25.00 per “shop” member. You may bring as many employees from your shop as you would like at no additional charge.

If you are a non-member, then you would pay the non-member price of $50.00, can bring as many employees as you like at no extra cost, plus you will receive a Trial Membership to PPFA good thru September, 2011.  If attendance prizes are given, only one prize is given per shop.

OH, THE GAMES FRAMERS PLAY!

Just to make the life of a custom framer a little more interesting, we have a few fun games that will be played at our meetings in 2010. You’ll have a great time! Guaranteed.

LETTER FROM

THE PRESIDENT

The rest of the 2010 events for the Mid-America Chapter have been confirmed, and boy do we have a great lineup! Get ready to learn everything you ever wanted to know about

fastening systems and fixing frame corners from Pat Kotnour in July, followed by a great design seminar from Greg Perkins in September.

Then, in November, we’ll learn about shop safety and necessary equipment maintenance with Stuart Altschuler. I think all three speakers will bring something you can use in your every

day framing operations.

The ANNUAL PRINT and OPEN

FRAMING COMPETITIONS

will beheld during our November meeting with

Stuart Altschuler. Let’s have a great

showing with this year’s piece. It is a beautiful digital photograph reproduction of a fall leaf with lots of great colors to inspire you! Don’t forget

about the OPEN COMPETITION either!

If you have an interesting frame job you’ve done, ENTER IT!!! You have a fair chance of winning at both local and international levels, not to mention the things you learn about how others see your framing choices. Don’t be afraid –

learn from the judges’ comments, enjoy the experience and make better samples for your gallery. We can all use something special to sell our talents in this economy.  HOW ABOUT ENTERING THE COMPETITION?

Are you a CPF or MCPF yet?

Those interested should consider taking the

upcoming PPFA Webinars: Intro to the CPF Exam” and “Intro to the MCPF Exam,” which will be taught by David Lantrip, MCPF. These

Webinars will address the newest changes to both exams and are the newest educational avenue available to you from PPFA on a variety of subjects. You can watch and participate in a live Webinar and then return to an archived version of it at a later date to get an answer to a

question or re-watch a technical demonstration all from the comfort of your own shop or home. It doesn’t get any easier than that! The CPF Webinar information is listed below. For

complete details on costs and dates and

to register, go to www.ppfa.comWe do these events for you because we want you to succeed. With businesses closing their doors every day, we are lucky to able to work our craft for those hard-to-find disposable dollars. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at this years events!
